From the founders:
Our mission is to make this publication serve as a platform for promoting emerging scholarship in the field of economic sciences. We hope to foster a sense of community, discuss some of the most pressing themes in our modern society, and inspire readers to seek change and improvement in the world. In our view, this can be achieved by harnessing the power of expression. The Exeter Economics Review is grateful for our readers that continue to support and inspire our publications.

Founders

Ismail Belkhayat
Founder, President, and Editor-in-Chief
Ismail is an undergraduate studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Exeter. He is the founder, president, and editor-in-chief of the review. He is particularly interested in mergers and acquisitions and the strategic decisions that influence major financial transactions and market trends.

Rahal Moukarzel
Founder
Rahal is a University of Exeter alumnus. He founded the Exeter Economics Review, where he served as its first president and editor-in-chief in 2024/2025. After his time in Devon, he continued his studies at HEC Paris and Yale University. His main interests lie in economic thinking, complex systems, and geopolitics.

Catherine is a final-year Classical Studies student at the University of Exeter, with a strong interest in the American political and legal systems.

Alex Goodbody
Editor
Alex is a final-year History student at the University of Exeter, with a strong interest in current affairs across both the economic and political spheres. He aims to provide insightful, evidence-based commentary on key issues, with a particular focus on emerging global trends and delivering balanced perspectives.

Vrinda Arora
Editor
Vrinda is a final-year Law student at the University of Exeter, with a strong interest in writing and research. Outside of academics, she enjoys reading, travelling, and exploring new perspectives through different experiences.

Joe McNulty

Joe is a second-year Business student at the University of Exeter, with a strong interest in sustainability and its impact on global economic development. He is particularly keen on exploring how businesses and policymakers can balance growth with long-term environmental responsibility.

Alex Irving
Head of Marketing
Alex is a third-year Economics and Politics student at the University of Exeter, with a particular interest in Public Finance. He will lead the marketing strategy for the review.

Vivian is an undergraduate studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Exeter. She specializes in creating visually appealing templates and marketing materials to support EER’s communication and engagement.

Advisory Team

Mario Du Preez
Business School Editor, Advisor
Mario is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Exeter Business School. Originally from South Africa, where he earned a DCom in Economics and taught for over 20 years, his academic work has centred on environmental and natural resource economics. He has published extensively in leading journals, including Ecological Economics and the Journal of Environmental Planning and Management. His current research interests focus on heterodox approaches, particularly ecological, Buddhist, and complexity economics.

Debbie Du Preez
Business School Editor, Advisor
Debbie is the Deputy Director of Education and Student Experience for the Economics Department at the University of Exeter Business School. She holds a Doctorate in Commerce from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and has over two decades of teaching experience in South Africa and the UK. Her work has focused on student engagement and support, including initiatives to enhance tutoring and employability within the department.
